Nest Outdoor Cam and Nest Aware

jaxstraww
Community Member

Bought a new outdoor cam and just read up that it can't connect to the old nest app. Ok. So what about nest aware and the new camera? I see no way to male a clip and thats the reason I got the 2nd camera to make clips of things going missing. So in the home app I find the new camera but no way to record history. What am I missing?

@jaxstraww

You have discovered--as we did to our surprise when we bought a new Google Nest Camera (Battery) in Sept. 2021--that, even though they are Google Nest cameras, they do NOT appear on the home.nest.com web page or in the Google Nest app, but ONLY in the Google Home app.  As a result, we also cannot edit video clips.  (However, your Nest Aware subscription will cover all of your cameras and doorbells in the same "home" or "structure".)

Google Nest's VP posted the following post in Sept. 2021 in justification of this approach; there are lots of customer comments there: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...
