Nest Wired Cam 2nd Gen setup issue

PulsedHalo

Hell All. Hope someone can help. I just purchased a Nest Cam (Wired) and I can't for the life of me get it setup correctly. When I add the device into Google Home it looks like setup works properly all the way until the end. When it tries to finalize everything I get a message that says "Something went wrong. Setup is taking longer than expected" I have factory reset this thing twice and it's still happening and now the room I added this camera to is showing 3 Nest cams and I cannot delete any of them from the Google Home app. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Interestingly enough I had this exact issue today. What finally worked for me was setting this up without adding it to a routine during setup. Hopefully that makes sense, I can't recall the wording exactly on the step during setup. However one caveat, I did add it to a routine later, and it went just fine. But now I can't get any notifications on any of my other three cameras.

Edit: notifications are working sorta-kinda okay now.

Having the same issue, can't complete the setup for a new camera today and after resetting and retrying I've added ghost cameras that I cannot delete.

If you search this forum you will see MANY people have run into this.  I believe this is a known bug that  Google has yet to fix.  It seems the only way to get it to work is temporarily install the app on someone else's phone, then log in with your credentials and add the camera.  Then you log out and delete the app off that phone (if you want to) and when you go back to your regular phone the camera will be there.

Please come back and let everyone know if this worked.

Yeah that doesn't work.

Everything seems to be working fine now, even the removal of the ghost cameras.

Yeah it seems removing the ghost cameras works after waiting a period of time. Well, I'm sure there's some real reason, but I was able to remove one after about 30 minutes and the last one after a couple hours.

I am having setup issues as well. I cannot even get started. Apple phone does not recognize camera for Bluetooth. I can’t get anywhere with either the Nest App or Google home. Another person tried and couldn’t get anywhere either thinking of returning the camera. Would appreciate any help

Hi MMOM,

I'm sorry to know that you can't set up your Nest Cam Wired but thanks for trying. Your Nest Cam Wired uses a Google Home app on the setup phase as it's not compatible with the Nest app. Let's have a better look — a few questions:

  1. What’s the color of the LED status light?
  2. How far is the device from the router?
  3. Are there any other devices that experience issues with the Wi-Fi?
  4. Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device they want to pair? Those devices could interfere with the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks,

JT

Thank you for responding. I did answer, but started a different blog. I ended up unplugging the camera overnight. Removing both APPS as well. Next day I downloaded both Apps. I got the NEST working then signed into Google home App. That seemed to work. When I tried to work first with the Google App, it would not work, Vince I thought you had to start with NEST. Who knew 2nd gen was not compatible

I had been having trouble with Home/Away, so decided to delete the NEST App (it was showing me data at my SF apt (I am in FL).
I will find out this am when I leave for appointments.  I am only using this camera to monitor a puppy. I am afraid to unplug this camera when I return to SF in a month!!
Thank you.

@MMOM

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://goo.gle/3A7x7ug web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.

Best Regards,

Brad
