No it cannot. When we bought our Google Nest Camera (Battery) in Sept. 2021 we were surprised to discover it works ONLY with the Google Home app and NOT with the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com web page.

In this Sept. 2021 post Google Nest says they're going to address this shortfall, but there has been no update since, so we're still using 2 apps for our Nest cameras: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...
