My nest cam used to work pretty well and detecting nicely. Recently, they stopped waking up when there is person or motion in the view. I have tried resetting and increase sensitivity and couldn't resolve this. When I manually turn on the camera, the detection generally works fine when people are in front of it. But with camera off, it doesn't do anything even if i am waving my hand right in front of it. it is like the motion sensor is completely off. This is really frustrating cause it used to work well and now it is literally useless unless I keep video on all the time which would drain the batter in a few hours..

Hello, I'm an end user like you and have been working with these cams a long time. But I'm scratching my head on what you are describing. I think your best bet might be to open a support ticket. Click the link below and enter your into and you will be given the chance to speak with a google tech person. If you camera is still in the 1-year warranty they might replace it. Please return here and let us know how it goes... (Also be ready for a 30-60 minute call as they will no doubt want to trouble shoot with you)

I don't know why your battery camera has changed behavior and is no longer detecting events.
We've had a battery camera for over 2 years, plugged in with the optional power cable. Whenever we've tested it by unplugging it so it's running on battery power and is therefore in "Idle" mode, it does not wake up to detect an event if we walk directly in front of the camera.
