Nest cam battery powering off

I recently installed Nest Cam with Floodlight.  My other Nest cameras stays on but not sure why this camera keeps on turning off.  I am able to turn the camera on with no issues but after a few hours it turns back off.  The floodlight is always powered on and I would like to keep the camera in always on position.

Hello sahenver,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, what is the light status of it? How far is it from your Wi-Fi router? What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far? For troubleshooting, you may try restarting your Nest Doorbell and Wi-Fi router and monitor its behavior.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Emerson

The floodlight works with no issues.  Wifi router is very close.  I am able to easily turn the camera on via Home app when it goes off.

Hi sahenver,

I appreciate the update. Have you tried the steps I've provided? In case you do but still getting the same issue, you may reset it to the factory default. Just a reminder, after the reset all of your event history will be deleted.

To learn more about reset and restart, you may visit our public article about “Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell”.

Best,

Emerson

The new firmware update recently rolled out is draining many a battery and messing with image quality.  I was just doom scrolling through the Floodlight threads trying to figure out why my wired camera is flat out DEAD.

Hi BillClay,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, do you see any light in front of your Nest Camera? What steps have you performed so far? Try restarting it.

To restart:

  1. Plug the camera into a power source.
  2. Locate the reset button on the back of the camera.

Tip: The reset button on the Nest Cam (battery) is located on the back of the camera head.
  3. Press and hold for 5 seconds.
  4. Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.

Regards,

Emerson
