Nest cam battery video history vs event history

Hi,

I have a question about video history vs event history.

i have a nest doorbell where it captures any movement and records before and after and upload to nest app(I have aware subscription).

Does nest cam do the same when not plugged in?

what does 3 hour event history exactly mean when you have aware subscription?

thanks in advance

@riteshkanuganti

We have had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for 18 months, plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable, as well as a Nest Aware Plus subscription. It detects and records events as well as our older cameras and doorbells that work in the Google Nest app. However, if we unplug it to test how it works on battery power, it does NOT wake out of "Idle" mode to detect when we walk up to the camera.

Event history for the most recent 3 hours applies to Google Nest's newer cameras and doorbells (those that work only in the Google Home app) when you do NOT have a Nest Aware subscription.

I want Google to buy back my cameras. Their policy is misleading at best bordering almost an outright lie.

If you're camera isn't set to record 24/7 ie not connected to a power supply(that's a separate issue) you then configure the camera to record based on certain selectable triggers, and what term does  Google use to refer to these triggers in their app? EVENTS! and the maximum recording length for an event is two minutes. How would I ever get three hours worth of events if they can only be two minutes long. The very logical and simplest way to answer that is the event history must mean it is cumulative.

What within that is supposed to make me think it means a rolling three hour window to review my two minute maximum recordings of events so if I'm without my phone for three hours I can't review/verify an event occurred. There's so many functional shortcomings and problems with that interpretation you may not even conceive it.

BUT If I PAY additional money perpetually the product becomes more usable. It's just another money grab. Well I'm glad you don't put expiration date on my files, photos. So even other subscription based products would be a capacity limit, not a time limit.

So please buy back my cameras before someone steals them while I'm at work and don't notice until I get home. The things I use to make my home more secure can't show me who stole them unless I spend more money

Hey hiimdave3,

Thanks for getting back to us. The maximum event now from the Google Home app is up to 3 minutes long. You can choose the maximum length for event video recordings when your Nest Camera is battery powered. Shorter event length can help extend battery life. Nest Doorbells and emergency events will always last 3 minutes. To confirm, how long do you have your Nest Camera? Have you tried contacting our support team and asking them about the warranty of your Nest Camera? Let us know your update here.

Best,

Emerson
