Nest camera wireless turns off when removed from mount

How can I use the nest wireless camera without the little magnet mount directly on the back of the camera?

Why does the nest wireless camera only work when the little magnetic base is attached (and attached specifically to the back rather than around the side)? I can't get the angle right with the magnet on the back, but if I rotate a little further so the camera side rests on the mount it's fine--except that the camera refuses to function. What is the reasoning here? If someone tries to tamper with your camera it will immediately stop recording?

There was another post about this that went unanswered and seems to be closed. https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Cam-turns-off-when-removed-from-magneti...

If you have the newer Google Nest Camera (Battery), you could try going into Settings | Device Information | Camera Mount and change it to a non-Google mount.  It's intended if you're using a 3rd party mount but perhaps it will work for your situation.

@Brad you started to communicate with the previous query, but no solutions or answers were ever proposed. I can't reply to the orignal post, but I would like to respond to your comment to say that "assistance is still needed" please

I seem to remember the idea was if you were removing it from the base then that is because you wanted to charge it. So they designed it to turn OFF when removed it wouldn't drain the battery or slow down the charging process.

Thanks, this worked for me. Though it did not work for the earlier post (link in my post), which remains unanswered if you have any other ideas.
