Nest cameras

I installed Nest cameras about four years ago and used the Nest app. Notifications worked fine until I installed an outdoor Nest camera in May and had to set it up using Google Home app. I get notifications from the new camera but can’t get any from my original cameras or figure out how to set up notifications so that I can get them. Help!

You will have to continue using the Google Nest app for notifications and administration for your older cameras, and the Google Home app for your new camera.

We've been using both apps since Sept. 2021 when we bought the new battery camera, and have had to use both apps ever since.

Google Nest is working at moving everything to the Google Home app, but progress is slow. If you look at the top of the home page for this forum, you'll see they just announced we can--if we choose--move our 1st gen Nest Indoor Cams to the Google Home app if we sign up for the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, but we still won't have all of the functionality of the Google Nest app. No word on when or even if they are going to move our Google Nest Hello Doorbells and Google Nest Outdoor Cameras to the Google Home app.

Hi everyone,

@Cedarhill17347, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. Give the steps below a try:

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Tap Settings Nest settings icon on the home screen.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Choose the Nest product you want to change notifications for, or select options for Nest Home Report or Rush Hour Rewards. Each item in the list will have different notification options which are summarized below.

To learn more, you may visit our public article about “Change Nest notification settings”.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Emerson
