Nest doorbell battery speaker volume with home app

When i try speak feature on the home app on galaxy s21+, the volume coming out of the doorbell speaker is extremely low. However, when i try the same feature from nest hub, its loud and clear. Anyone having the same issue or know how to fix this? Google supports response is to get a new phone or have it repaired, when there is no issue with the phone. Also tested in s20+ same issue.

Same issue on an IPhone 12….speaker setting turned up all the way on both my Nest doorbell battery and Nest cam Battery. Just barely loud enough, but would defiantly prefer more volume.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. I have some questions I’d like to ask you first:

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

  • Have you tried to restart your device?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi, i found other people having same issue on this forum. You can check them here: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Why-is-my-nest-Doorbell-battery-talk-an...

I've tested it on Samsung Galaxy S20+ and S21+, both showed same issue. I originally thought the device was faulty, so after chatting with your support, i got a replacement from the retailer. But still the same issue. After posting few thread on different forum to see if anyone else is having the same issue, i found that there are others with same issue.

I tried removing reconnecting the device, checked the mic permissions on the app, restarted the phone, nothing seems to fix the issue. I am guessing its the problem with the app as, when i test the feature with nest hub, its loud and clear with nest hub.

Same issue with a A20e and a S10e.

But no problem with a pixel5.

Echo and low voice at doorbell. Very difficult to talk with visitors.

Same issue for me. Two Samsung Galaxy S10+ phones (mine and my wife) and people can't hear us when we speak to them.

Problem is still there (Samsung S21, Android 11, One UI 3.1)

Issue is still there, can you please look into this and give us an ETA instead of just checking in that the problem is still there?

S20+ is super faint, however the hub is fine

Agree with Kimmy's comment. This whole thing feels very informal. Why is there no official tickets or issues log opened for these issues so we can check on the status. Is Nest/Google really that disorganized? Why would an employee just ask us if it's resolved if they have no idea if it was worked on... We expect YOU to give US an update...

Sorry to say, but this would not happen with Apple.

Hi Brad,

Thank you for your response.

This issue was raised originally at the start of September, and it is now over a month and half. From your replies, it only looks like you were collecting feedback to send forward 2 weeks ago. A week later you asked if anyone was still having issues. No where in your responses have you confirmed that a ticket has been lodged and raised. If anything, your responses have confirmed to me that it took you a month to realise that this is an actual issue that users are facing. In regards to collecting feedback, Summoner's very detailed response was more than enough to raise the issue and bring it forward.

Please confirm that a ticket has been raised and lodged. And if you are unable to do so, can you please ask another colleague to do so. More than enough information has been supplied by Summoner and the issue is now a known issue as confirmed by the other users and posters in this thread.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I to am having this issue. My battery powered door bell isn't usable with the Nest Hub app, so I'm unable to talk to visitors full stop.

Not very pleased, this was a core feature I wanted and I'm unable to use.

My voice is so faint from the doorbell it's inaudible with normal street noise.

I am also having this issue. Both on my S10+ and S21, voice coming out of the doorbell is super quiet. It's fine on an iPhone 12 we have in the house.
