Nest doorbell peeling

So unfortunately after finishing a long and unfulfilled conversation with google support I was told that because my doorbell is not under warranty anymore they couldn't help me with the peeling. The original purchase date was 10/2020. I understand rules are rules but I did ask for any suggestions they had to prevent further deterioration. The answer greatly confused me. I was told to shade it further by putting it on a shed? It's wired, and on my front door, where the doorbell is needed. Anyone have suggestions that worked to prevent this from getting worse? I'm really not willing to spend another $150 as I already did and paid to have a google pro install it! I also don't want to drop more money if it's going to just happen again!

Thanks for any help, and listening to my frustration!!

My advice: divest from heavy reliance on unnecessary tech. These products are no longer as great as they claim to be.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, and I wanted to make sure that your concern was acknowledged. I am sorry to hear that yoru device is out of warranty! I wish there was more we could do, but there isn't if the device is not under warranty. You can look into some protective sleeves that some companies make for them if you wish.

Best Regards,

Brad.

The very frustrating solution is to buy something else to cover it up? Regardless of warranty, this is a defect in the product itself. My frustration comes when the only answer I get is I will have to buy another one out of pocket or buy a cover (which when researched have cause overheating, so this is not an answer). When a consumer has invested this kind of money into a product with the expectation of value especially from such a renowned company, it is such a let down in this situation.  As the consumer I shouldn't have to replace an electronic doorbell after 2 years of use because of a cosmetic defect. This piece of equipment is expected to hold up in the elements, as it sits on a front door. Very disappointed, and $300 deep for a now peeling doorbell with the only solution being am apology and a suggestion to spend more money.
