Nest doorbell wired.

Recently my nest wired doorbell microphone will not work. I can talk to people through it but they cannot talk back to me. Strange to the microphone is only working one way now.

I have tried factory resetting the doorbell that did not work. I've taken everything off of the nest app factory reset and put back on that still did not work. Looking for any suggestions.

@thesmith7

You've doubtless checked this, but is the doorbell's microphone turned on under Settings | Microphone in the Google Nest app?

Yes double and triple check that. I've even turned it off going out of the app turned it back on multiple times. Hoping that might fix it but no luck. I'm at a loss....

@thesmith7

Ouch! The other posts I've seen on this either point to a broken Nest Hello doorbell or no answer.

Have you tried just deleting and reinstalling your Google Nest app? That's a long shot, but you don't lose any settings when you do so, so it might be worth a try.

That may be the one thing I haven't done. I'll give that a try!

I've uninstalled and factory reset everything on my nest app that didn't work.

Well that didn't work either.... I'll have to accept it's just a camera now

Hi folks,

Thanks for trying — let’s check this further. Is your phone connected to a Bluetooth speaker? Has the camera suffered any drops or impacts? Also, have you tried checking it with another device?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Ensure that your phone isn’t on mute.
  2. Test if the device’s microphone is working.
  3. Open the default voice recorder app or any other app that uses your device’s microphone and test the device’s microphone on the app.
  4. Check if the device is connected to a Bluetooth device that may be serving as the microphone.
  5. When you use the talk and listen tone, press the microphone icon first to talk, wait for the beep to talk and transmit your message to the receiver’s side and vice versa.
  6. Restart your phone, turn it off and wait for 60 seconds. Then, turn it back on.

Let us know how it goes.

I appreciate your help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

JT

Yep, I have tried all of that. No luck. Still won't work.

The other strange part is when I do press the microphone and say something, the doorbell recognizes that there is sound there and records as you sound event, but if I go to play it back there is still no sound on the recording. I just come to accept that it will not record or allow sound from that side of the device.

I tried everything and could not get the microphone to ever work again. I don't even have it installed anymore. I gave up. Got something else.
