Nest hello doorbell battery drain

Mikenott

I bought this transformer for my battery powered nest doorbell, and I've noticed even though by the stats on the transformer look like it's giving the doorbell enough power to stay charged it's still draining the internal battery.

Now I do have max recording activated and any movement in the street will enable my doorbell to record, is this just something I will have to deal with as on Saturday night I took my doorbell off and plugged it in to charge fully then connected it to the transformer and put it back it's been less than 48 hours and it's already on 88 percent.

Any advise would be helpful.

Battery will only charge above 32F. Also since power has no battery bypass if the camera is seeing a lot of activity it can drain the battery faster than it charges

Hi there,

Thank you for your patience, and sorry to hear that you're experiencing this. I know that keeping your Nest devices charged is very important, and I would love to help you out. When it comes to keeping your Nest Doorbell (battery) or Nest Cam (battery) up and running, here are some articles and troubleshooting guides for the best charging practices:

  • This is a great article on general charging times for your devices.
  • This helpful article tells you how to save the battery with your doorbell or camera.
  • And this last article, will go over charging expectations when you may live in a cooler/colder environment which will address charging temperatures, etc.

I hope those articles help shed some light on charging and maintaining battery levels of your Nest doorbell or camera. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad
