Nest wired camera replaced by Google battery camera

Hi,

My older nest wired cam has stopped working so I have replaced it with a new nest outdoor battery cam. I want to use the new camera wired in so have used the old USB C cable for the old camera. I have purchased an adapter that has female usb c and female usb a on it. I have plugged the existing power wire into the female usb c and the lead that came with the new camera into the usb a female port. When connected I got a constant picture stream indicating the unit was powered (if on battery it would be in rest mode until it spotted activity). Now only 5 days on the camera has run out of battery so is obviously not receiving power through the wire , infact it seems the battery is being drained to provide the constantly on view.

Any thoughts on why my setup is not working please???

To wire the new battery camera, you need to use one of the two optional power cables designed for the battery camera: https://store.google.com/product/nest_cam_weatherproof_cable?hl=en-US

We've had the battery camera for 20 months, plugged in with the 10-meter optional power cable. It is always "Live" and charged, and if we check Settings | Battery it shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol.

I really doubt whether the old USB cable for the old outdoor camera (we have 3 of them) has the right specs for the new battery camera.
