New Google Nest camera does not appear in Nest app

Our new Google Nest Cam (battery) does not appear in the Nest app. We can only view it, access its history, and configure it in the Google Home app.

Conversely, most of the settings for our other Google Nest cameras and doorbells can only be configured in the Nest app, and their history can only be configured in the Nest app.

This is crazy! We have to use one app for all of our older Google Nest cameras and another app for the newest one.

Sadly the new Nest Doorbell battery only works with Google Home. You should leave the Google team feedback directly through the Google home app. If you click on your avatar icon you will then see the feedback option.

I already left feedback for Google regarding our new Nest Cam that only works with Google Home.

Shouldn't it be a Google doorbell and not branded as a nest doorbell if it doesn't work in the nest app? Just my 2c.

In addition, live video feed from the new Google Nest Cam (battery) can NOT be viewed on a computer, nor can its video history.

Hey folks,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. Thank you for all of your feedback! I can imagine it's been quite frustrating trying to to get used to using the Google Home App for the new Nest Hello Battery Doorbell. I would love to collect this information, and happily send it into the appropriate teams.

Best Regards,

Brad.

@Brad,

Your comment that you "can imagine it's been quite frustrating trying to to get used to using the Google Home App for the new Nest Hello Battery Doorbell" is rather patronizing, and glosses over the magnitude of Google's failure.

It's not just a matter of getting used to using the Google Home app. We cannot configure our existing Google Nest cameras and doorbells and view their history from the Google Home app.

I think it is simply fraudulent for Google to even call this new Google Nest Camera Battery a "Nest" camera. It does not work with the Nest app along with all of our other Nest cameras. It cannot be accessed online from a computer along with our other Nest cameras on the Home Nest website. Further, unlike our other Nest cameras, we cannot manually edit clips from video history and cannot even gather a video clip from the Home Nest website from a computer.

Google says elsewhere that it's "committed to providing a seamless Home app experience for our [Nest camera] customers." Then why can't we configure our existing Google Nest cameras and doorbells and view their history from the Google Home app? Why can't we access the new Nest camera online from our computer? Why do we have to use two different apps to get notifications from our Google Nest cameras? Why does the new Nest camera not have the Enhance feature present on our existing Nest cameras to set zoom when recording history, or the scheduling feature present on our existing Nest cameras? Why can we only get email notifications from our existing Nest cameras and not this new Nest camera? This is NOT "seamless."

Releasing this camera without having this in place and instead promising to improve it sometime in the future is like selling a new car and saying "sorry, unlike your current car, reverse gear doesn't work right now, and the windows and air conditioning also don't work right now; we're working on adding those features in the future. And by the way, the old model is no longer available."

As a long-time Google Nest customer, I am profoundly unhappy with our new Google Nest camera, which we purchased because the previous Google Nest outdoor camera is no longer available.

All of this was clearly known to Google before releasing this camera. But Google chose to release what is really a "beta" release. Google should be compensating customers for testing its as-yet-unfinished product.

Google is suppressing this issue with the new Google Nest Battery on the Google search engine.

Try searching on google.com for: "new google nest camera battery doesn't work with nest app". You get no relevant results.

Then search on bing.com or yahoo.com. You get at least a few relevant results
