New Nest cameras / doorbell cannot be added or viewed in Nest App?!?!?!?

Let me get this straight - the new Nest cameras (wired indoor, battery outdoor) and also doorbell (battery) can only be added and viewed through the Google Home App and CANNOT be accessed or viewed in the Nest App?!?  I believe we can all agree the Nest App is superior when it comes to viewing / accessing camera feeds, history, events, notifications, etc.  The new cams are called “Nest Camera” - how is it possible Google / Nest released these products without integration capability into its Nest App (which we all agree is a superior app for user experience)?  This is a complete product management failure.  I feel like this is a business school case study for how not to release a new product. And the lack of any transparency or acknowledgment by Google of this oversight and its corrective action is inexcusable.  Google has jeopardized its Nest loyal customer base (those of us who bought into the wired doorbell, thermostat, and prior cams that all integrated seamlessly into Nest App).  Needless to say I’ll be returning the 4 new cameras (2 indoor wires, 2 outdoor battery) that I bought during the Black Friday promotion from Target and rethinking whether Nest will be my smart home solution going forward.

At our house, we are now using the Google Home app for our one new Google Nest Battery Camera (purchased 3 months ago) and the Google Nest app and home.nest.com for our older cameras and doorbells. We're hoping against hope that Google addresses the problem soon.

It is a shame. That was precisely the reason why I bought the Nest cameras at the time. All in 1 app

Add me to the list of people bothered by this.  Also...how can we view the cameras on a desktop PC??

Unfortunately, we cannot view the new Google Nest cameras released in the fall of 2021 from our computer's browser on the home.nest.com website.

After my post above, I found the thread / post below. Not a satisfying response.

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...

Google failed to address their thought process behind (1) the migration to an inferior Google Home app while not porting over / preserving all the best features of the superior Nest app  (2) the decision to release new products / cameras without having the app migration situation finalized (leaving us loyal customers with a ridiculous 2-app experience), and (3) the overall decrease in product quality and capabilities across the Google Nest portfolio (today’s cameras have less capability than the highly rated IQ line).

I did find it a bit reassuring to see the number of posts / comments in the thread below, to see that I wasn’t in the minority with my frustration and outrage over the ridiculous product management decisions Google made with the latest Nest releases. In hindsight I wish I had researched and found that thread before I pulled the trigger on my purchase - it would have saved me a trip to buy / return these products. But who would have thought to check that the new Nest cameras would integrate with the Nest app? That’s a no-brainer right? 🤦‍♂️

Sigh. I did find scrolling through the many comments in the thread above entertaining and somewhat cathartic. So there’s that.

There are more than a few of us who were astonished to learn that our new Google Nest cameras and doorbells do not integrate with our existing Google Nest cameras and doorbells on the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com, and because of this have less functionality than our existing cameras and doorbells.  Almost every day there's a new post in this forum from yet another customer discovering this.  Many, like me, discovered it too late to return the camera.  Who would have thought?

I have three camera that do not appear in the nest app with my older cameras.  All three work fine in Assistant.  Unfortunately, they also do not appear in the web app.

@HamOps

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.
