Night vision rarely works

Googlmad

I have the Google Battery Doorbell. Sometimes night vision is fine but most of the time I can only see blackness. I have the night vision set to always on, so it's always black and white, and everything else is set to maximise video quality. Any suggestions?

You know, I noticed that too on one of my cameras the other day. I installed 6 new Nest Cameras with Floodlight. They are the same battery cam, and I noticed one night that the view was black on one of them. What I did, was turn the flood on, and of course the night vision went off, then, when I turned the floodlight back off, the night vision came on and looked like normal again. So, maybe try setting it back to "Auto" and see if it comes back on at night, or maybe try shining a flashlight at it at night? I just wonder if the sensor is not detecting something and not triggering it to come on. I know this is not much help, just curious.

I've tried switching from night vision to automatic to day vision and back again. But again last night, just black. Sometimes it works ok, sometimes just blackness. It also doesn't help that we only get 3 hours of history on the free plan which is useless if you want to see what happened during the night, when it does work that is.
