No QR or Setup Code on Nest Cam with Floodlights

There is no sticker on the front of my Nest Cam with Floodlights and there is nothing labeled Set Up Code on the bottom of the device. There are all sorts of other numbers. I've tried entering every 6 digit number on the label in place of the QR code and they all come up as invalid. I've also tried entering just 6 digit portions of longer numbers from the bottom of the camera and none of those come up as a valid QR code either. I've climbed up a ladder and completely disassembled the device looking for anything that looks like a QR code or a SETUP ID anywhere and could not find anything like that on the device. What now?

According to the Google Nest installation video here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11003780?hl=en, at 1:18 on the video, you are supposed to be able to use the 6-character setup code at the bottom of your floodlight camera, as shown in the video.  It's not labelled as a "Set Up Code" and it's a combination of numbers and letters.  If there's no 6-character code printed on the bottom of your camera and if the camera didn't come with a sticker on the front, then I'd suggest you were sold a camera you cannot install or use and will probably need to return or exchange.

Thank you! That was it! I did find it right by the microphone on the bottom of the camera module. I hadn't previously bothered to watch the installation video as the hardware was already all installed. I just needed the QR code and figured I knew how to do that as I had already installed several Next Cams previously.

Hello,

I have same issue that installer had trowaway QR code and now I have change my internet company.There is no activate code on back of flood light camera. I still have original box. Does anyone know if there is code on box or if may part of serial number??

@KPnow

Are you saying that there really is no 6-character code printed on the bottom of your camera, as shown in the installation video? (See the link in my earlier comment.)

Also, if you set your network name (SSID) and password on your new router/modem to the same value on your old router/modem, you shouldn't have to make any changes to your cameras. That's what we did when we got a new router/modem, and it's the first option Google Nest recommends because they've made it difficult to update Wi-Fi settings (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9223711?hl=en).

My old company was RCN and new company is Fios.Different user id and password.Now it requires QR code or activate code  and I do not have .I still have original box with serial number but that one has more than six digit coenumber

Thanks

KP

If you set your network name (SSID) and password on your new Fios router/modem to the same value as on your old RCN router/modem, you might not have to make any changes to your camera(s).

I also had thought there was no code on the camera itself, but it is actually on there. It is not on the bottom of the entire camera with flood lights product but just on the bottom of the individual camera module that attaches magnetically to the rest of the product. It seems to be in white ink on a transparent label so it is a bit hard to see without looking closely. The numbers are right near the microphone holes on the bottom of the camera module. It is the number that says "Set Up Code". That 6 digit code can be used instead of the QR code. MplsCustomer provided this solution to me and I now have it working with the Google Home App.  Oddly I don't see any way to set it up in the Google Nest App, only in the Google Home App. Thus I can only look at and configure this camera from my Google Home App on my mobile phone and can not view the camera from the home.nest.com web page like I can all my other Nest Cams.

Yes, unfortunately the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021 work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website. Google Nest's VP posted this justification on Sept. 29, 2021: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...
