I am learning that the "doorbell" doesn't ring on the phone anymore! It used to when it was Nest, Google bought them out and "improved" their system by removing a rather important functionality everyone was using this for, a DOORBELL! It's called a doorbell google, what do you guys think? should it be ringing somewhere maybe?

Hey there,

I am terribly sorry to hear that you're having this issue! I would love to assist you with this issue. If you are having issues with your Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell, I would suggest that you first start by restarting it.

Restart: Keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble reconnecting to the internet, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Brad,

I have looked into the available data on the net and I don't believe restarting the Nest will do anything really (well, other than waste my time).  The doorbell function of the first generation "doorbell" has become non-functional apparently since google took over Nest, fantastic job I must say.  The issue has now become that on most of these devices when one presses the doorbell, not only nothing happens on the phone (it used to notify you, a rather useful function of a doorbell I believe), the video function also goes into seizure and communicates its intense displeasure with whoever had the audacity to press the doorbell part of the doorbell! All and all, it is a good video camera, as long as you leave it alone; except I have six other ones around my house, and didn't really need the seventh one.

Sincerely,

Shahin

Hi Brad/aatienza,

Tried to restart my google doorbell and my mobile - still no notifications from my google doorbell.

I have been giving excuses to my guests who are coming home who would press the doorbell and wait for sometime and then call to my mobile number to inform they are waiting outside. Quite embarrassing.

Can this be fixed???

Regards,

Antony.

Hey folks,

@shahin1 I’m sorry you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. What's the make and model of your phone? When did it start happening? Also, are you using the Nest app or Google Home app?

@AntonyWalter We understand how important this is for you. Let's get this sorted out. Are you signed into the app? Is the Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on? Have you try to use a different mobile device?

Thanks,

Archie

Hey folks,

Gotcha. Try the steps below and let me know how it goes.

  1. Turn off all notification settings in the Home app or Nest app and double check if the Web app has the same settings.

Note: If you're using the Nest app, you should also double check that the Nest web app has the same notification settings as the mobile app.

      2. Sign out of the Nest account on all devices it's signed into, including computers.

  • iOS
    1. Delete the app.
    2. Restart the phone.
    3. Reinstall app.
  • Android
    1. Clear the app's cache.
    2. Restart the phone.
    3. Reinstall app.

         3. Sign in and turn all notification settings back on. If needed, double check if the Nest web app has the same settings.

Thanks,

Archie

Hi,

My phone is an iPhone 12 and was working just fine (all other phones have also, I have had iPhones since version 3) until shortly after the google takeover of Nest.  The issue is not the phone, if it was, it would not be happening on all the phones in the household (three different ones).  The issue is the doorbell.  If you ring the bell and the video goes away, that's a phone problem? Also, I am using both the Nest app and google home, neither does anything.
