I’ve installed the wall mount including the wedge.

I have a problem with securing the doorbell to the mount.

I’ve followed the instructions given in the official installation video:

  • Align the circle at the bottom of the doorbell to the hole at the bottom of the base plate.
  • Push the doorbell in then down until you feel it click into place.

I am sure the circle at the bottom of the doorbell is clicking in to the hole at the bottom of the base plate.

When I test the doorbell mounting, (hopefully to make sure it is securely mounted), it is not securely mounted.  The doorbell remains loose at the top.
Just flicking it with a finger is enough to dislodge it from the mount.

I’m using the wedge - no screws are sticking out that might interfere with mounting the doorbell.

Can someone suggest a solution to this problem?

Regards,
Leigh

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed.

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

  • Have you tried to restart your camera?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

I have the exact same issue. Even when trying to click on the base plate to the camera un mounted the base plate does not click in. Is this a manufacturer defect?

I had the same issue.  It will click it but it is hard to do.  You just have to push harder. Do it just like they show in the video as though the metal plate is mounted on the wall.   So Stupid that they designed it to require the metal plate to be on it to turn on.

Thank you mdr2. I’m 210 lbs, I put as much weight as I can at different angles and no luck. It just springs back up.

Does anyone know if there a service number for google or a way to do returns?

Hi SR,  So here is a little video that I watch to see  how to do it.  It is a little difficult if it isn't mounted to the wall but I was able to do it.  Watch this Youtube link and jump to the 3:15 mark.

I returned mine about 2 weeks ago and as best I can remember to return it (assuming you got it from the Google Store) just log into the store and look at your orders and I think there is an option to return it.  I seem to remember you have to do it within 14 days.

Thank you,

I’ll try to return it. It’s odd there does not seem to be a mechanism or even anything to provide leverage for a click.

thank you for the help.

Glad to help but sorry about not having better news.  I'm totally disappointed as well and feel very let down by Google.

I  too am having a problem getting it to click and stay in place. The wind barely just blew and it fell from the wall bracket. I have put force on it to see if it would "click" and nothing. I lightly pull outward on the doorbell to see if it would come off and it doesn't but if I pull a little harder it comes off without using the key to disconnect it. I doubt I can return mine now that it has a dent on it from when it fell today. Very frustrating.

I just loosened the screws a little bit and tried it again. This time I did hear the click when I put it back on. Hopefully that is all I needed to do.

This worked for me after so many tries. The screws are really loose now, but all good since it’s finally mounted! This was only and issue for me when using the wedge with the wall mount. I loosened the screws from the wall mount connecting to the wedge. Thanks for the tip!

I used the little thing they gave you to un Mount it when it’s time to charge. I just stuck it in and wiggled it a bit and it mounted & doesn’t come off.

I took a look at the Camera again. The small spring loaded plastic circle is defective and the ket to release it does not help. It's simply defective. I'll try Google support.

Yep, it was defective. I was sent a replacement.

I had the same mounting issue when using the wedge. Seems to be that the wedge design (indented in the center) causes the metal plate to be "too" flush to the wedge, preventing the top of the camera from sliding in when the bottom metal circle is inserted.

I fixed this by adding thing washers between the wedge and the metal plate. Poor wedge mount design!

This worked for me and seemed to have solved the issue after taking it off and placing it on mulitple time!

When you push the key into the top slot, depending on how you angle it, you'll feel the little dot at the top rear side of the door bell move in or out slightly. Reposition the key through the top slot so that the little dot protrudes out more and then try clicking it in. Works for me 🙂
