Problems setting up new doorbell

TehStoneMan

I am trying to set up a new doorbell, but when I try to set it up through the Home app, it tells me to use the Nest app, and when I try the Nest app, it tells me to use the Home app.

Is there any other method I can try?

might be an update issue. try going into app store then update both apps, but if its a software error you can restart the phone to clear out any bugs.

Didn't work. Is it possible that my phone is too old? Galaxy Core Prime SM-G360G

Hi Tehstoneman,  Just want to let you know that if you are using one of the brand new (battery)doorbell then it ONLY works with the GOOGLE HOME app.  Google is phasing out the NEST app apparently.   Just didn't want you wasting your time (like me and so many here have) because of this very disappointing issue.

Hi there, Folks.

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had some issues with setting up your new Nest Hello doorbell! I would love to look into  this further for you.

  • Which Nest Hello model do you have? Nest Hello Wired? Or Nest Hello Battery?
  • Do you have the option to try the installation on a different phone that is connected to the account?
  • The new Battery powered Nest Hello is only available on the Google Home App, so definitely no reason to use the Nest App.
  • Have you migrated over to the Google Home App from the Nest App already? Or are all your other Nest cameras/devices just in the Nest App?
  • What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

I ended up having to get a new phone. Unfortunately not the phone I wanted (it appears to have been taken off the market because a new model is due out soon), but the cheapest that was available. I was able to use the new phone to set up the doorbell, and is all working fine now. I still needed to use the Nest app to scan the QR code for the doorbell, but it then registered itself with Home.
