Why can’t I scroll through my footage on the Google home app like I do on the nest app. I have got nest aware

The Google Nest IQ Camera, like all 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, work FULLY only in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website UNLESS you have "transferred" the camera to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.
Do you have a 2nd gen Nest Aware subscription that is in the same Google Nest "home/structure" as your camera?

No I only have 1 nest iq camera, you can’t scroll through footage the same way as you can in the nest app.

As I said, that's just the way it works. We've had to use BOTH the Google Nest app AND the Google Home app to view our camera's history ever since we added a 2nd gen battery camera to our 1st gen cameras and doorbells over 3 years ago.

Google needs to migrate the software the same as the nest onto the home. Pathetic having 2 apps

You can switch to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app. We haven't done so because it is STILL in "Public Preview" status and STILL lacks many Nest app functions:
