Hi there, Steven.

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed.I hope you are not still having this issue during installation, but just in case you are I would love to look into this further for you.
  • Are you trying to install it within the Nest App? It is not compatible with the Nest App, and will only work in the Google Home App.
  • Are you making sure that all the information you are providing is correct during the installation process?
  • What other troubleshooting steps have you made?
Please let me know if you need further assistance!

Hi John F, I am using the Google Home app and am having the same issue. I posted on the old site that informed me about this new site. I am not sure if posts to the older site will be forwarded here.

Same issue for me. I've tried a factory reset by holding the reset button for 12 seconds and hearing the reset chime. Got to the same stage again when the message "somethings gone wrong" came up again. Retrying over and over does nothing.

Hi my new doorbell is making it all the way through the setup process then times out. My home app has the device but when I click it, it says Finish Setting up Device, with two options Finish Setup or Remove Device. If I click Finish Setup it acts like it's working for a split second and then immediately tells me "Something went wrong, setup is taking longer than expected" But it's like it's not even trying. I've factory reset the device and removed it from home and tried again same issue. This is the 4th time resetting. All my other google devices are functioning fine. I'm using an iPhone 12 (most recent ios) and just updated the google home app today after this happened the first time. Thanks.

I am experiencing the exact same problem.

I'm on the phone with Google tech support right now. Sounds like they are experiencing a systemic issue. I will update once they give me a definitive answer.

Any luck yet?

Spent over an hour on the phone. We troubleshot everything. He ruled it as a long standing problem. Said try again in an hour. When I asked, what if it's not working tomorrow? He said it will be working tomorrow. So... I guess we hurry up and wait.

Same issue with my new cam.

I have the exact same problem.  Also using iOS and I have no Android device to try the suggested workarround...

Yes I am installing it with the google home app, NOT the Nest app. The troubleshooting consisted of all the things your tech support recommended while on the phone with them for an hour and they couldn’t get it working. And YES I am providing the accurate info during the install process.

Having the same issue as MandiL above. Did all those things MandiL has done too. I have iPhone X. Does feel like it doesn’t even try in that step.

And add me to the list of "standing by".  Have tried Google Home using ipad, iphone, and have also reset device multiple times and rebooting router and wifi.  At a dead end.

I've been having the same problem here for the past 4 hours with no success.

I had a spare Android available and camera setup worked fine.  Definetely an iOS issue.

I was also able to successfully install mine after trying on an android instead of Apple device.  Hoping there is a patch available in everyone’s future.

I am having the same issue trying to set up my brand new camera that was delivered today.

Same issue here. Installed two outdoor "battery" cams and one outdoor "wired" floodlight today but none of the three cameras will let me "Finish setup." Oddly enough we get alerts, so know that the cameras are functioning and we have control of the floodlight but we can't "finish" the three cameras so we don't have control of the cameras or images through Google Home app.

Same issue with me. I am using iOS as well on the iPhone. Anyone got a fix yet?

Thankfully nearly no one in the world has an iphone and if they did, wouldn't have an interest in any google products. (facepalm) Not feeling a lot of confidence there google. Your doorbell is cute but I'm not get a droid phone for them.

Same issue. I’ll check back with y’all tomorrow to see where we’re at.

I was having the same issues with iOS (iPhone 12). I found an old Samsung Tablet, downloaded Google Home app and set up flawlessly.

I gave up waiting. I borrowed a friends pixel phone, logged in to my account in google home, added my doorbell to my home, removed my account from the google home app on the pixel phone and VIOLA! I’ve got a new google doorbell. Would be neat though if the Apple Google stuff played nicer.

I can also confirm that Android worked for me. Was able to complete my doorbell setup using a pixel phone.

I have been trying to add a 2nd gen wired cam and am getting the same "something went wrong. Can't connect to that network" error for days now. I have tried to go though the chat help desk and there have been no solutions. They wanted me to set up in a mobile Hotspot. But obviously as soon as I leave my house, my camera has nothing to connect to. I've reset the cam, deleted and readded Google home, changed my wifi password, reset my wifi and restarted my phone several times. I've tried using airplan mode and still cannot connect this cam. I have been using an android device and still no luck. Anyone have any solutions?

Having the same issue while setting up my nest doorbell (battery). All steps went well, after selecting the WIFI, it went to the final finishing up step, then an error showed up "Something went wrong. We're having trouble loading data for your home". I tried 2 android phones, 1 iphone, 1 ipad, nothing worked! Got a replacement doorbell, same error! I have wasted hours on it. Contacted the support, and tried everything they suggested, nothing worked!
