Talk and listen is not working on google nest indoor camera

despinosa94

We have had our google nest indoor cam for about 2 years now and never had any problems with it until recently. The “talk and listen” just stopped working (on both my husband & mine iPhone & the back up phone we use for night time which is a Samsung galaxy). We have restarted our route countless times, removed the camera and installed it as new, unplugged it and plugged it back in but nothing seems to work. The little little on the camera blinks when we tap on the microphone icon but you can’t hear anything when we speak. Are we doing something wrong?

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. Do you still need help with this issue? I know that there's been a delay in response since you posted.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

I was told the camera is 13.5 months old and its out of warranty now. They said I had to buy another camera.

I let them know that would NEVER happen again, but thanks for the support.

Hey folks,

I am sorry to hear that some of you are still having the same issue. This sounds like it could be a bug. Ill go ahead and report it for y'all. But I would suggest that you Factory Reset your devices if you haven't already. I wanted to remind you of some Important things to know before you factory reset. After you factory reset your camera or doorbell:

  • Your camera will forget your Wi-Fi network name and password.
  • Your camera will be "Offline" in the app. You won't be able to use it until you remove it from the app and reconnect it.
  • Any custom camera settings will revert to default settings.
  • If you want to save any video footage, before you factory reset, create video clips or timelapses and download the files to your phone or computer.
  • If you have a Nest Aware subscription and you plan to continue using your camera or doorbell with the same account, do not cancel your subscription.
  • If you plan to get rid of your camera or add it to a new account, before you factory reset, cancel your Nest Aware subscription. After you cancel, your camera's entire video history, Activity Zones, and snapshots will be erased as soon as you remove your camera from the app. Once your video history and snapshots are deleted, they're gone forever. They cannot be recovered. We do not keep backups.

Important: Because a factory reset permanently erases the items listed above, we don’t recommend doing it as a troubleshooting step until you’ve tried restarting your camera and other troubleshooting options.

I have done this multiple times and still no luck with “talk and listen” feature. I just have a feeling it’s a way for us to get the new Nest Cameras they have out now..

Still having issues. When are you going to fix it? If it’s a bug like you said, then when are you going to provide a fix or patch to fix the problem? I talk to my daughter on camera when her moms not home. I’m able to give her Instructions if she’s doing something unsafe. If something happens to her, I will blame it on you.

I have to talk to an assistant as the cameras are at my business. Since the mike doesn't work I have been using FaceTime which actually works better but constantly disconnects. There is also a very long delay with Nest so you can at least talk to the person in real time with FaceTime
