FWIW I switched to the Google Home app and that seems to be working as expected for now (not constantly disconnecting). It’s possible this part of a push to deprecate the original nest app and/or they’re just lagging behind on updates.

Exactly same issue here. I bet nest Google employees they don’t even use nest. It happens way more too often. I’m so disappointed with their network and app

I'm using NES T app both from Android and from IOS and no issue in the Android one but disconnection in IOS, Obviously hardware and Settings are the same.
Pretty sure issue is from Apple not willing to "open" up (might be for some security reason - or bad commercial reasons) the connection.
Bad idea of apple to keep nest products limited ...they don't propose their own products (or at least with same quality / price ) !

Check your settings to see if your phone is using a VPN. I use my Phone for work and when working using Teams etc for work it enables a VPN. When I disable the VPN i no longer have the issues that your having. When I have the VPN turned on it will disconnect me after about 15 secs from viewing my cameras. When its disabled I have no ISSUES

I took advice below and went into iPhone and turned off VPN, and went into General to turn off an app that was connected via VPN (vyde?). Now my nest camera shows up.

This is continuously happening to me on an iPhone. I'm switching products at Best Buy today as a result. This has been going on far too long for no solution..

I wish I could use Google home instead of the Nest app but as far as I am aware Nest protect won't work in the former.
My neighbors are delighted it goes off at 6.30 am when doing some toasts and I can't turn it off...
This makes Google products unusable...

I was in a similar situation. Nest app would kick me out after 10 seconds or so and I had to log back in. There was no way I could adjust the setting schedule. I thought this was a thermostat to app connectivity issue. So, I tried resetting the WiFi of the thermostat. That didn't help. I read about: removing the device from the app, deleting the app and re-installing the app, and adding back the device to the app again. Tried that but I couldn't even add the device since I only had 10 seconds before the Nest app kicked me out again. At that point, I knew it had nothing to do with the thermostat, it was the app itself.
Anyway, finally solved this with a missing step between deleting the app and reinstalling the app. That was to power cycle the iPhone. When I added this step, I was finally able to add the thermostat back into the Nest app. The app also didn't lose its service after the short duration. So far so good. Give this sequence a shot.

I’ve noticed on my iPad and iPhone that when the VPN is running, the nest dumps to the blue screen after a few seconds as well. If I turn off the VPN it works just fine. Are there any configuration parameters I can use for the VPN to prevent this from happening?
