When will Old and new Nest cameras work on one app?

Okay, so as a Software Product Manager, I have to ask:  When are you going to fix one of the most obvious missing features?

It's pretty obvious that you have a lot of customers with older Nest Cameras that are now adding the new battery powered cams to their systems.  (Like myself and a lot of friends).

And I get it that you are moving things into the integrated "Google Home" app, starting with newer products.

But I can't imagine that you would leave the old cameras out of the new app.  There has to be a plan to move them over to provide a single app experience to see all my cameras.

How far out is that on the roadmap?  Are we talking next quarter, or 6 years from now?

According to google they plan on moving everything into Google home, including a web based Google Home Dash sometime in 2022.

I have the older nest wired camera  and I can view it perfectly fine with the Google home app along with my newer battery powered devices? Not sure why that wouldn't be the same for you ?

That's not the issue.

I want to view my nest cameras in the nest app specifically because nest has an online dashboard so I can view my cameras while in the office constantly. Older nest cameras work. The new nest cameras are not nest compatible.

You cannot do that with Google home.

I would love to know how you were able to accomplish this.  All of my old nest cameras will not show up in my Google Home app. I merged my Google and Nest accounts and I have even removed them from my Nest App and retried to set them up in my Google Home App- no luck.

I ordered one of the new nest cameras as a test and of course- it works and adds to the App perfectly.

Any advice would be appreciated as I do not want to replace my other 10 cameras.

Yes, I do.

None of my Nest Cameras (or Doorbells, or Thermostats) will show up in my Google Home App.  I have to go into the Nest App and see them there.

My new Home Hub and NewGen Cameras both showed up with no problem in the Google Home App.

Thanks Brad

@Careysobel

Have you gone through the Migration process from the Nest app to to the Google Home app? You will want to migrate your account over to do this. Just be aware, you are not able to reverse that change and go back to the Nest App. But you can find out more information here

Best regards,

Brad.

Yes, I did.  I'm not sure if it worked properly because I have multiple Gmail addresses, and multiple 'homes' (my primary residence, my office, and my rental home).

You will want to make sure that you are logged into the correct account with the correct devices attached to that Home. You would then want to migrate that home which you haven't gone through the process with. I am afraid this is not something I can assist you with on my end.

Best regards,

Brad.
