I have purchased some Google nest camera batteries some for my work location and some for my home one of the cameras is out in an external garage and somehow did get Wi-Fi signal I plan on installing four Nest flood lights. I anticipate that there might be difficulties connecting to the current Wi-Fi solution that I own. So I purchased a UniFi Wi-Fi AP to help ensure that the cameras I have yet to install will be able to connect. After installing the new AP I've discovered there's no way for me to tell if the new Wi-Fi is an improvement for the Google cameras. The camera I installed in the garage connected to the new AP and seems to be functioning. But I have no way of determining whether the new AP is Improvement or not. Between Google searches and The Help menu inside the Google home app I've been told three things.1 use the nest app. That's impossible The Nest app will not allow me to attach the cameras to that application it now requires Google home. 2 open the Google home app and select Wi-Fi tile, there is no Wi-fi tile. 3 Select the device in Google home click the three dot menu button in the top right hand corner and select device information. The only information regarding Network or Internet in the device information tab is it gives me the IP address. Why is it impossible to check the nest camera to see what the signal strength?

Hi LordSnave,
1, The Google Nest app is only used for the 1st generation cameras, all battery cameras and floodlight cameras can only be used with the Google Home app.
2, The WiFi tile/icon is only visible and usable for Google WiFi and Nest WiFi products.
3, I own a few Google Nest cameras and some other brands of cameras and none of them have WiFi signal strength indicators. This isn't a common feature of home WiFi cameras.
Hope this helps,

OK let try this another way. I have the option of using to different devices to provide wifi to my nest cameras battery. While using either device the cameras connect to the internet. My direct question is this "how to determine which is providing better wifi to the cameras?"

Just to expand a little bit here's my use case currently I have a nest camera in a detached garage which is quite a distance away from my old Wi-Fi. I plan on installing some floodlight cameras on the other side of the garage but I'm pretty sure that my original Wi-Fi solution would not work. I had then bought a Wi-Fi AP unit which was supposed to extend the range. I need some way of validating whether or not the additional money I spent will provide me with better results. This new Wi-Fi AP when the garage camera is connected to it I would like to know if there's any improved connectivity. I would also be able to determine which wi-fi network is set camera is attached to perhaps this information could be displayable under device information. Currently only the IP address which does not give me enough information is displayed. Other Wi-Fi cameras I have used do list the network SSID these Nest cameras don't

I can see what you are talking about here, however I cannot say whether that AP device will work how you hope it would. I have a great article on the placement of your Wi-Fi, so it benefits all of your devices, which can be found here.
Likewise, I think that could be of some use to you. As for being able to view the signal strength, this is not a current option. I would suggest that you let our engineers know. Please feel free to send us more information about your experience with this issue. I've put instructions below.

Brad

@LordSnave
I do not believe there is a way for you to view your connections or signal strength for our cameras and doorbells. But we're still happy to pass the feedback to the right team, sorry about that!

Brad

I believe I know the answer to this already however no harm in asking regarding cameras and connected to Wi-Fi networks is there any place on Google's side where I can see which of the various networks it is attached to
