Wifi 6

I have 2 older cameras and getting ready to purchase a new battery camera. I am also in the process of upgrading my router to WIFI 6 .  Will the older cameras work w/o a lot of issues and do the new cameras use WIFI 6.

Thanks a lot for that information. This saves a lot of headache as I would have expected the new camera to work with Nest App as well as my browser as the current cameras do. I do have the Google Home app but only use it for Chromecast to the TV's. I was forced to migrate the logon to the Nest App a few months ago and it was a total disaster as I lost Web service for several weeks.  Google was not helpful in resolving the issue.  I was hoping to get the new camera as it runs on batteries and the location it is going does not have an outlet readily available.

I also have a Nest thermostat that works find and don't want to transfer it over if the Home App is not ready for prime time yet.  Maybe I should just do nothing for now but thanks again for your information.

Hello,  Yes, the old cams should work just fine with the new router as the new router is backwards compatible.

However one caution before you get the new cams.  Please be aware that the new cams will NOT show up in the NEST app.  They only work in the GOOGLE HOME app which has many many limitations compared to the  NEST app.  The other big thing is the new cams can not be viewed in any way using your computer's browser like the older cams.  So if you need to view the cams on your computer you would be better off purchasing used Gen 1 cams from ebay (or where ever) until such time that the software catches up with the hardware.

Thanks for asking but I have just decided to wait to purchase until the software is upgraded.  It seems I cannot add the new camera to the my Nest App and you cannot access the new camera from a computer. These are deal breakers but sure am glad I found out before I purchased. I would have been pulling out my hair and don't have any to spare.
