Wired Doorbell keeps going offline

My wired doorbell is quite old (about 7 years). In recent months, it keeps going offline for periods of minutes, sometimes over an hour, then springs back into life. Nothing else has changed, and the Wi-Fi is fine.

Do I need to replace the doorbell, or could there be an easier (cheaper) fix?

Hi there!

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Doorbell wired keeps going offline. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Is your Nest Doorbell wired 1Gen or 2Gen?
  • Are you getting any error messages?
  • How far is the Doorbell from the router?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the Doorbell?
  • Does the Nest Doorbell have power?
  • What is the status LED light?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Restart your device: For detailed instructions. Refer to this article: How to restart your Nest Doorbell.
  • Check power supply: Ensure the Doorbell is receiving power and any cable isn't damaged.
  • Check for interference: Check if other devices near the Doorbell are causing interference.
  • Check Wi-Fi Strength: Ensure your Nest Doorbell is within range of your router and that the Wi-Fi signal is strong.
  • Restart Router: A simple restart can often resolve connection inconveniences.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany
