I just moved into a new home that has a wired nest doorbell camera. I've read in the threads that the previous owner has to remove it from their account before I can put it on my account. Is there a way around this? do I need to purchase a new nest doorbell camera and install it?

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. You should be able to factory reset the Doorbell, and it should allow you to add it like new for you. You can learn how to factory reset it here. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
