google doorbell needs to be pressed twice

Our electrician has just installed our Google Nest doorbell. It chimes when you press the button, however nothing registers inside unless it’s pressed twice. I’ve tried restarting the doorbell and that didn’t work. Any suggestions??

@LeanneH

Perhaps you need to contact Support (starting with the link below) to see if you have a faulty doorbell. I couldn't find any similar posts, except for a Ring doorbell, where the suggestion was also to contact Support.

Did your electrician have any suggestions?

My electrician is coming back to have a look. I’m wondering whether it’s the WIFI, maybe a slow connection? Either way if he can’t recommend anything I’ll contact Support. Thank you for your response!

@LeanneH

Did your electrician install the "chime puck", as shown in the diagram on this Help topic?

Hey LeanneH,

I just wanted to follow up to see if you still need our help. Please let us know as we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

I appreciate the help here, MplsCustomer and Emerson.

Thanks,

JT

Thanks for following up. It seems to be working ok now. However there is a lag between when the doorbell or pressed and the announcement on our Google Hub. At least it doesn’t need to be pressed twice though. Interestingly the alert on my phone happens straightaway though? I do think it may be a WIFI issue not a hardware one.

Hi there,

Fantastic, we’re glad to hear that! We appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us. As we got our resolution here, I'm going to mark this thread as complete. I'll be locking this thread if we won't hear back from you again in 24 hours. Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.

Cheers,

JT
