At our house, we are now using the Google Home app for our one new Google Nest Battery Camera (purchased 3 months ago) and the Google Nest app and home.nest.com for our older cameras and doorbells. We also bought the optional power cable so that it's continually powered (and recording with our Nest Aware subscription), so we don't have the "idle" problems some are having. We're hoping (perhaps illogically) that Google addresses the problem soon by migrating Google Nest app functionality to the Google Home app and providing a new website for browser access to our cameras.

Could you send me a link to the power cable you purchased please? I'm having trouble identifying the correct one.

Thanks

We bought the power cable from Google; there's a 5-meter and a 10-meter version:

Aha I've got confused between the camera and the new battery doorbell! Thanks anyway.

Thank you all for your replies.  I ordered the cables myself.  This doesn't stop the false sense of security you have that it defaults to not recording when you are home.  Google is misleading people when they call it a nest camera.  It doesn't work with the nest app and that isn't outlined clearly in the description.  There is most likely going to be a class-action lawsuit on this issue at some point.  Enough people have to voice their opinion and be heard to get a fix against a giant like Google. They only give you one charger when you buy the 2 camera option. So you can't even charge them at the same time.   The idle issue is just bull.  When someone is injured while at home and these cameras aren't recording because they are idle or not recording because the homeowner is in the home mode it will be bad to not have a recording.  Why can my google hub max be seen in the nest app and my nest camera can't?  Nest isn't in name of first and is in second but first can be seen and second cant.  I am not stopping until I hear from Google or their lawyers.

@whitepath23

With the camera plugged in with the power cable and with the "Away-home notifications" turned off, our 3-month-old Google Nest Camera Battery records all the time.

I agree with the rest of your post, especially with the fact that so many of us who have purchased these new "Nest" cameras have discovered the hard way they don't work with the Google Nest app or with the home.nest.com website.

I couldn’t agree more.  It’s horrible, and having to use two apps (the google one being horrible) is just horrible

It has nest in name of camera

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Would love to return them.  Their quality is not up to par with the other outdoor Nest cams I have.  Just faulty all around.
