nest camera's stop working

My nest doorbell stopped working about 4 months ago when my power went out. With the doorbell being battery it shouldn't have effected anything other than the wifi. Although when the wifi came back the camera never worked again. About once a month it will detect someone at the door and get a video but it only works for about 10 seconds and never again. I've reset the thing multiple times with no luck. This is extra annoying because my garage flood light just decided to offline itself for no reason. I've reset the wifi and the camera multiple times and its still offline. Lastly the nest thermostat i purchased has -never- worked, when it was installed it would not turn the heat on and once it consistently got below freezing in my house i went back to the old one. So that leaves me with 100% of my nest products not working because ???

Any help would be fantastic.

Hi,

Same for me. Doorbell has been working great for about a year. Charged it a couple days back and now I can't get the camera to work anymore and battery started draining over night. When I turn on the camera, I see a pink light flashing a couple of times but nothing more. Tried a complete factory reset but didn't change the situation. I have disabled the camera for now, hoping to at least have a functioning doorbell. Some help would indeed be appreciated.

Kind regards

Pascal

I can't comment on the battery doorbell but I can on the battery nest cam. I've got both floodlights and regular ones with the power cables and have had random disconnects for a year now (since I bought them). *I have all router nest wifi and gig fiber* they will randomly, for no reason disconnect and never recover until the wifi is shut down completely and\or the reset button is held for 5 seconds. It's super annoying especially with the spotlights because you lose control of the light at the same time.

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

I've reset both devices multiple times with no luck

Hey folks,

We’re sorry for the trouble here. Let’s sort this out — what’s the status light of your doorbell? How far is the doorbell from the router? Are there other devices connected to the same Wi-Fi where the doorbell is connected to? Also, we’re there any changes to your Wi-Fi network?

I appreciate the help, Brad.

Thanks,

JT

white then green when it see's someone, the doorbell portion of the doorbell works but when i try to view camera it will not load, once every... 2 months or so it will work for about 15 seconds then stop working again. When it stopped working we had a power outage, router didn't change location. Many other things are on the same wifi network without issue its only nest devices that have stopped working.

Hi xtrashpandaking,

Got it, thanks for sharing that with us. Let’s factory reset your doorbell. If you have important video clips, save it first.

Here’s how:

  1. Locate the reset pinhole at the back of the doorbell.

Tip: The reset pin on the Nest Doorbell (battery) is located below the USB port on the back of the doorbell.
  2. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paper clip or a thumbtack):
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your doorbell will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your doorbell will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.
  5. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings Nest settings icon > Remove device > Confirm.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

JT

Hi there,

I had no success after restarts or factory reset. Tried multiple times. Reached out to customer support. Mine was still under warranty and I got a replacement. Wondering if I will hear anything about what was actually wrong with my unit.
