nest wired doorbell not ringing

GaryYager
Community Member

I installed a wired nest doorbell.  Everything is working great except it doesn't ring the chime.

16v transformer

Front & Rear doorbells.  Wired Nest Doorbell installed on front.

Chime set in App.

I get notifications in app, Doorbell itself makes a sound when you push the button, but the chime inside doesn't ring.  Rear doorbell still rings chime.

The doorbell chime buzzes, but doesn't actually strike the chime bar.

@GaryYager

If you have a Google Nest Hello Doorbell (now called the Nest Doorbell [wired]), your Chime Connector should be wired as shown in the diagram in this post: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Video-doorbell-wiring/m-p/117681

This Google Nest Help page below shows the transformer requirements. I think if your doorbell chime buzzes but doesn't strike the chime bar, your transformer may not have enough voltage, though 16V should be sufficient. (When we first got Nest Hello doorbells, we had to replace our very old transformer.) https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247132?hl=en

Verified wired correctly.  I'm going to try to replace transformer.

I changed the transformer, checked all the wires. I now sometimes get a weak chime, often a Slight buzzing.

I replaced the nest wired doorbell with the original doorbell button and I get a strong ring. Which points to the wired nest doorbell as the problem. Thoughts?

If your original doorbell rings the chime with the Chime Connector in place, and the Nest Hello doorbell does not, that seems to indicate a defective Nest Hello. You could try contacting Google Nest Support via this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp
