Hi, I want to install a wired Nest doorbell, but Google instructions say that I need a transformer rated 16-24 VAC. The transformer for the existing doorbell is stamped 10V.5V.A. - am I correct in assuming that I would have to upgrade to a new transformer to be able to use the wired Nest? Thanks!

A lot of customers in this forum, including ourselves, have upgraded to a 16V 30VA transformer in order to get our Nest Hello or 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbells to work properly.

This is all very helpful, especially the link provided. Last question - when upgrading the transformer, will I need to change the existing chime? Or will it work the same with the new higher voltage transformer? Thanks.

It probably depends on the doorbell chime, but you're not talking about a drastic increase here. When we upgraded our transformer several years ago, we did NOT have to replace our mechanical doorbell chime.
