This is my first Chromecast device. I was trying to cast a webinar that was coming across via a Zoom session. I was able to cast the video from the Zoom lecture but could not figure why I could cast the audio. As a result my wife and I had to listen via my cell phone where the the sound volume was inadequate for my wife to hear (she is partially deaf) even though I had my cell phone volume up max.
Is there a setting that causes the audio be cast with video?
For the life of me I can't figure out why I am seeing this outcome.
Previously, while using ChromeCast I was able to transmit both audio and video simultaneously from YouTube.

You are not doing anything wrong and there are no settings you can change to fix this.
Unfortunately, that is a known issue with Zoom.
Because Zoom doesn't support casting directly, you have to use the screen mirroring function. That tries to capture both the sound and video, but Zoom is interfering with the sound.
All you can really do is keep trying and tell Zoom Support that you want them to work with Chromecast devices. Maybe if they hear from enough people they will work on it.

I'm having the same issue but not in Zoom. I'm casting a video that I shot on my Pixel phone, stored in Google Photos, and cast to a Chromecast device. When I cast it from my Macbook Air/Chrome browser, I get audio. When I look at it on my phone, I get audio. When I cast it from my Pixel 7a, I get no audio. Increasing the volume doesn't help. I'm using the same video as a test from all devices. What's up with that? Please let me know if you have any suggestions (#).

Hey cjasper,
Please tell us if there's audio on your video when you cast from other devices aside from your Google Pixel 7A. If so, please make sure that your phone is updated to the latest software version. You may also restart it and ensure that all Google apps are up-to-date before casting the video again.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Lovely

As I mentioned, when I cast from my Macbook Air, I get audio. When I cast from my Pixel 7a, I get no audio. When I try to update Google Photos, Google Play tells me that it's the latest version. Any other thoughts?

Thanks for checking in with me. No, I get no sound with my Android phone or tablet. I do get sound with my Macbook Air laptop. Why no sound with Android devices?

Hi cjasper,
Thanks for the reply. Based on your description, it seems that this concern is the opposite of the title of this thread. I suggest that you create a new thread with the proper title. It would be easier for other users to share information if it was on the right topic. Let us know once you’re done.
Thanks,
Kimy

The title describes my problem exactly. I don't know why you think it's something else. I get no audio when I cast with Android devices, but I do get audio when I cast from a Macbook Air. I get video with both - no sound with Android.

Hi there,
I’m sorry about the confusion. It must have gotten tangled up in my head.
Regarding your concern, is this isolated to the Google Photos app only? Were you casting the app or doing screen mirroring? You can try the following:
Let us know how it goes.
