Black screen & audio Chromecast

Hi,

My Chromecast has a black screen but still getting audio. I have read an old post and have done all the suggested fixes eg. Tried in different tvs, different slots and did factory reset. No luck. The light on the Chromecast is flashing orange.

 

Thoughts?

 

Is there a Google shop in Sydney that I can take it to?

Let's try to sort this out. A few questions: What type of Chromecast device do you have? How far is the Chromecast from the router? How far are you from the TV when you try to cast?

 

Try these steps:

 

  1. Check if the Chromecast firmware is updated. If it's not up-to-date, reboot your Chromecast device (unplug it from its power source, wait one to 2 minutes, then plug it back in) to attempt to receive the update.
  2. Check proximity of TV to casting device (phone, tablet, or computer), and Wi-Fi router. Close proximity and minimized intervening obstructions (such as walls) allows for the best connection possible. Ideally, they should be less than 15 to 20 feet (4 to 6 meters) apart from each other, with one or no walls in between.
  3. Reboot your mobile phone and Wi-Fi router.
  4. Disconnect and reconnect the mobile device from the Wi-Fi network.
  5. Do another factory reset on your Chromecast.
