Let me start off by saying I have no idea what generation of chromecast I have, it doesn't say anything about that on the box.
I am trying to connect my chromecast to my TV using the home app. Everything goes fine until the connection screen, then I get an error:
I have restarted my phone, my chromecast, and my router. Still won't work.

I got it working. I had to split my wifi so u could run it of the 2.4 instead of the 5G

It sounds like you've already tried some of these steps, but I'll include them all in full!
If none of the steps above help, factory reset your Chromecast and then retry setup. You may also want to try setup using a different phone or tablet, just to test, if you have one.
