Cast without wifi from android. Full step-by-step instruction including phone settings please.

I have tried everything to set up casting direct from my phone without wifi (or mobile signal) to no avail.
I downloaded latest Google Home app and cannot find Guest Mode as mentioned in every online instruction I have tried.
Phone is a Xiaomi Mi9

You still need WiFi for your Chromecast to connect to.  Even if you are using Guest Mode.


Guest Mode just means that the phone or tablet that is casting doesn't have to be on the WiFi network (like if you have someone visiting and you don't want to give them your WiFi password).  But, the Chromecast device DOES need to be on the network.

Chromecast devices require a network with full internet access at all times to work.

What I had read so far gave the impression that a wi-fi network was not necessary.
What I want to do is stream downloaded items from phone to non-smart TV using Chromecast device when on holiday where the wi-fi system does not allow for streaming or is rubbish as regards bandwidth.
