Chrome cast turns off and on randomly

Recently my chrome cast has been turning off and on randomly. I have had the device for several months and have never had any issues before. I will be using my device watching something and it will turn off and on for a period of minutes at times. Sometimes when i turn the television off with the remote (after leaving the app) it will turn back on, which makes for a very annoying evening. I have tried taking the batteries out of the chromecast remote to no avail. The television is a couple years old but I don’t have the actual TV remote. If anyone has any solutions i am all ears, thanks!

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry for the late response. Let's sort this out.

 

What's the LED lights status on your Chromecast? Try the steps below:

 

  1. Make sure the Chromecast's power cord/power adapter directly into the wall outlet. Be sure that the power cord is NOT plugged into an extension cord, power strip, or other power unit.
  2. Reboot the Chromecast, router, and mobile device.
  3. Try to plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  4. Try to plug it in on a different tV screen if possible.
  5. Try to cast from other devices.
  6. Turn off any power or battery saving mode.
  7. Disable and re-enable Automatic date and time and Automatic time zone.
  8. Perform factory reset on Chromecast.
