Chromecasr remote

First question how do I know which version of chromecast, so I can post a question.  

2nd question. You say I can control chromecast with android phone. Great. But how do I do it?

Do I download something to my phone?

If you have the Chromecast with Google TV device (oblong unit that comes with a remote) you may be able to use your Android phone instead of the remote.  Read this for more information:

For ALL Chromecast devices, you can use apps on your phone or tablet to tell your Chromecast what to play.  Here are instructions:
