Chromecast 1st gen not recognized by TV

We finally got fiber and while all our Google Home devices switched to the new system with few problems the 1st gen Chromecast refuses to be recognized by our older Sony smart TV. It was working in HDMI 1 just fine before we got the upgraded wifi. I have reset the Chromecast numerous times, and I can get it to communicate with my Pixel Pro phone, my android Chrome tablet, and even my husband's Chromebook, but the TV still says No signal. Check the external input etc. The new service provider is sending someone to see if they can help but they don't have experience with Chromecast, so far they've had me try switching the placement of the new Firestick but that didn't help, the tv still didn't acknowledge the Chromecast.

Any ideas?

I’m having the same issue but occurred after a power outage when wifi dropped out. The Chromecast is working and tells me it’s connected to TV but can get no screen pic. Used all devices to reboot etc but no luck. Was working fine prior to this. The HDMI port works fine for TV so that’s ok. Any ideas out there ?

Hey there mrsbirdie,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for your patience! Were you able to fix that no signal issue? If not, I'd be happy to help you get this figured out, as these kinds of problems can be tricky to figure out on your own. First thing, go ahead and check out and follow the steps in this article. The steps will depend on what color your LED light is on the Chromecast device. If the Chromecast is throwing an error, it would appear via the LED light.
