When casting laptop goes to sleep then program stops - yet casting from my cell that is not the case

Quick questions — what's the make and model of your laptop? Is this happening right after you cast a video from your laptop to the TV? Please turn off the sleep mode setting on your laptop. Rebooting your laptop and updating the Chrome browser might also help.
