I had posted full details of this in https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Chromecast/Chromecast-and-iOS-############/m-p/46107 but that has been deleted and the issue closed, so I'm writing it out again.
iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 15.1.1 - my phone just cannot detect any Chromecast devices, even though it can see everything else in Google Home, and my Android devices can cast to the Chromecasts just fine. Clearly something got broken in the iOS 15 update, but there seems to be no official report on it.
Interestingly, sometimes it is possible to begin casting, but then minutes after the connection is lost. For example, opening the cast menu in Netflix repeatedly sometimes offers the ability to connect to the Chromecast. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the wifi helps, but not often.
In terms of troubleshooting, I've completely reconfigured my entire home network, originally believing this to be a DNS/DHCP issue, and I'm now back on a default BT home router setup and it's still an issue. I've reinstalled the apps and done all available updates and iOS updates, but it still doesn't work.
I'm hoping we can work together to solve this as it's driving me away from the Google ecosystem, and appears anecdotally to be a common issue from searching online.

This same issue is present on iOS 15.3, along with smart bulbs no longer working half the time. In 15.2 it temporarily worked, but now on 15.3 does not again. It is now impossible for me to cast from any app, on either chromecast.

Also I found a valid link to the previous post that got closed out without the issue being fixed - https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Chromecast/Chromecast-and-iOS-15-1/m-p/46107

Hey folks,
I apologize about the late response on this thread, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that iOS casting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, since I know these issues can be difficult to troubleshoot. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:
There are a couple of things online you could try that may help. First, try turning off your Cellular Data when trying to cast. Second, Go to your iOS Settings, then Privacy, then scroll down and tap on Local Networks and turn on the apps you would like to cast from. If the issue persists, then go to Settings, Wi-Fi, press the "i" icon next to the network you are connected to and turn off "Private Address"
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

Hi Jeran,
Thanks for replying. I've answered all of your questions in my original post, so I assume you were asking them for the benefit of the other commenters.
Further to my previous troubleshooting I've had some limited temporary success disabling the 5GHz band of my Wifi (which has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz under the same name) but this works absolutely fine without that step on a large variety of Android devices. It's clear that there is something about the network interoperability on a local network that simply doesn't work between a recent iPhone and any Google smarthome devices - not only are there issues with the chromecast, but a variety of features of the Google Home app itself, and by extension smart bulbs etc, intermittently do not work or just are incredibly unreliable.

So what helped for me (I own an iPhone 12) was to press the "i" icon next to your wifi network and then to disable "private wifi address". This worked for me until the latest update 15.4.1 which I installed yesterday, and now it's isn't working anymore.
So if anyone has a way out of this one, much appreciated!

Same problem with the iPhone 13 after the new 15.4 update. Really hope someone can find a solution.
