Chromecast overseas

Hi experts,

I bought a Chromecast in Australia to use in New Caledonia. No idea which generation, it just says Chromecast on the box. I can cast YouTube no probs. When I try and cast Australian TV (I do have a VPN) it will cast to the TV, the screen will show the channel and say ready to cast, but then nothing. On my tablet or phone it says it is casting but it doesn't. Any ideas would be much appreciated. I'm wondering if the Aussie one is somehow incompatible with New Caledonia? TIA

Hi Suzi,

Thanks for reaching out. Please take note that the Chromecast devices aren't officially supported in New Caledonia. You may still be able to set it up since it's a plug and play device, but some features might not work.

Also, Chromecast devices don't support the use of VPN's. It may work, however we don't recommend using a VPN as it can cause an issue to the Chromecast to communicate properly with the mobile phone.

Thanks,

Jennifer
