Chromecast remote batteries draining within weeks

Remote batteries recently started draining in weeks. Bought the device 2021 and was working find up until about 3-4 months ago. Since then I have been through about 20 batteries which is about 10 times more than I went through in the 2 years I’ve hade the device so somethings up. Guessing it’s a bug with the latest firmware - anyone know if there’s a fix coming soon? I’m spending a fortune on batteries! Things I think that could be causing it: remote speaker is set to always on (listening for hey Google) ; or Bluetooth pairing mode stuck on. Thanks 🙏

I apologize about the slow response time, thank you for your patience! This is a pretty annoying issue for sure, so I'd be happy to help you look into it. I think you're on the right track with the causes, so let's see if we can confirm it. Does the Voice Remote have any LED lights on at all? For example, if the LED is solid white, it would mean the remote is listening or a firmware update is happening. 

 

Also, just to confirm, how far away is the remote from the Chromecast usually?
