Chromecast set up using HDMI to RCA adaptor - problems

Andrew101

I'm trying to set up a latest generation Chromecast to a public address (PA) analogue amplifier using an HDMI to RCA adaptor, so that I can cast music or web content. (I did a test previously on another system, and it worked fine.)  But in the set up procedure (I have to say I'm setting up a TV) the Chromecast talks to the Wi-Fi router and says "Security policy does not allow connection to unsecured networks." But it's not unsecured. Please advise.

Hi Andrew101,

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out.

Quick question: are you using a Samsung phone to set up your Chromecast? If yes, please try this step provided by one of our PE here. Also, you may try to reboot your router and mobile phone.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Thanks, Jennifer. I am using a Samsung A03S. But the menus on the smartphone are not as indicated in your PE post. and I cannot find a heading "Secure Wi-Fi" to follow the steps suggested. I've also looked at the Samsung on-line support but I don't see anything relevant. Samsung website says this feature is not on all Galaxy phones.

I've restarted my phone, and will restart the router.

Hey there Andrew101,

No problem at all, it looks like this issue affects Samsung users in particular, like Jennifer pointed out. Do you have any apps that may be affecting the connectivity? A user online who experienced this issue said, "Any message mentioning "security policy" usually means that there's an app or service with admin permissions running. You can see what admin apps are active under Settings --> Biometrics and Security --> Other security settings --> Admin Apps"

Another user online was able to resolve a connection issue in Google Home, Settings --> Privacy --> Remove Saved Wi-Fi and home address --> Remove saved Wi-Fi networks. Give that a try, and see if that lets you connect.

Best regards,

Jeran
