Chromecast uses Starlink Router IP Address Location 98.97.56.72 for Ambient Mode Weather & TV Commercials rather than the Home Address entered in Google Home's Settings, Home Information.
Is it possible to change the location the Ambient Mode Weather uses?

no. i flagged this years ago on the old product support forum. they didn't care then and they don't care now
my chromecasts always show me the sunshine at midnight because of my routing

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out. May I know what type of Chromecast device do you have? Also, are you using a VPN for your Chromecast? If yes, please disable it in your router settings and let it connect directly to your network, then try to check if the weather that will show on your TV screen will now match your Home info on the Google Home app settings.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Chromecast 2nd Gen.
There's no VPN in use with the Chromecast.
Google Home currently says it's 85 in Ajo, Arizona while the Chromecast Ambient Mode displays 78 at 9:59 pm MST.

all 3. no vpn. ptoblem remains. this entire thread is a duplicate of one on the old forum. google never took it vaguely serious the first time around

Hi folks,
Thanks for getting back to us. The Chromecast devices will automatically detect the location based on the network where it's connected. If your current location is different from the router’s location settings, please change the address in your router settings. You may also try to reboot and reset your Chromecast.

Jennifer

jenniferv that's not true. chromecast gets its location depending on where google thinks your DNS servers are

yes. many times since i raised a support ticket many years ago that was pretty much ignored and also the duplicate thread on the old google product support forum about it. it's a bad product that's not supported at all. i think this is why it does not perform as-advertised

Yes. Along with 2nd Generation Chromecast, I noticed the Google News also thinks I'm in San Bernardino County, California instead of Ajo, Pima County, Arizona.
