Chromecast with Google TV not able to work on multi-band SSID

Refering to the closed thread Re: Wifi Wireless interface of Chromecast with Goo... - Google Nest Community

@Jeran I want to reopen this topic.

The answer mentioned in the previous thread was not correct. The AP does not decide which band that devices need to use, it is the client itself that decides which band it connects to. If the client does not see a need to change bands, it should not do so.
Also the signature of the failure is not that the device disconnect from the WiFi. The SW of the Chromecast disables the WiFi completely and a user needs to manually enable this again in setting to get his setup back connected to the internet.
To prevent this and as a temporary workaround you can create a single band SSID on either 2.4 or 5GHz but nonetheless, this remains a bigger issue that needs to be resolved.

I could understand that the device disconnects and reconnects to be something minor, that would be less intrusive but this really needs customer interaction to resolve the problem which is a bad user experience and a major bug that needs a resolution.
Is this something that Google is aware of and looking into?
