Flickering Chromecast

MichaelAAppleby
Community Member

Hi!

This started after a couple times using the google chromecast.

When I move onto an app, what ever I am watching will flicker.

This is across multiple apps. It goes away and come back. Think of returning unless it can be fixed

Hi Michael…

I got this problem when power to the device is not sufficient ( as I have adapter with more than one power outputs and connected multiple devices to the same adapter) once I reduced the load on adapter by removing one. And afterwards didn’t observe such issues. So check if you’re using the correct power adapter or not…

Hi @MichaelAAppleby

Did you try power cycling your device already?
Maybe worth trying a different HDMI port in your TV if possible.

If none of the above works you can also try a factory reset to see if that works. 😊

Hi RXShortly,

Yes I have tried all three HDMI ports.

I had an issue with the brightness which was due to the settings a particular port.

I have factory reset both my TV and the Chromcast device

Hi @MichaelAAppleby

Do you have the possibility to try Chromecast on another device, like a monitor or such?
This way, you can know if the Chromecast is causing issues. 🙂

Another thing you could try is turning of HDR on your TV to see if this helps?

Hi RXShorty,

I have tried it on my desktop monitor and the same thing.

Shouldn't the device be compatible with HDR? I can try this and see but kinda still a problem with the device if so

Hi @MichaelAAppleby

The Chromecast Third Generation has no HDR support.
Or are you using Chromecast with Google TV or Chromecast Ultra?
