I am using the latest iOS version, the latest Google home app and the latest chromecast version and been following the threads here to try to fix that issue that I can’t use the remote control feature on my Google home app from my phone to control my chromecast.
it used to work a couple of month ago, but for the last couple of month it is consistently showing me the :”Full remote unavailable. Make sure your streaming device has the latest software.” error
I’ve already done a repairing of the device and a factory reset, with no result.

Hello, I was also worried about it, but I finally solved it, so please try the following.
Settings(Chromecast or GoogleTV) → Apps → Google play store → Manage apps and games (in the user icon)
If you go this way, you may have (system) apps that are not updated.
After updating everything, I was able to connect.
Hope this helps!

Hi folks,
Thanks for the help here, User_56452. We appreciate it!
ekeren, how's it going? We're you able to try the suggested steps provided by User_56452? If you haven't yet, please try that. If the issue still persists, try to reinstall the Google Home app and reboot your mobile device. Using a different mobile phone to isolate the issue might also help.
Thanks,
Jennifer

I was able to follow User_56452 solution with a slight adjustment, under the play store (for my Google tv) up I had to uninstall and reinstall the remote device app
once the app was reinstalled, it all worked.

Do you mean chrome cast app or another? I’m dealing with the same issue and would love to know what I should reinstall. 🙏

Hi folks,
@ekeren, good to know that your concern is resolved.
I'm jumping in to ensure everything is good here. Have you seen @User_56452 and @JenniferV's last response? @Spartan, I believe what they are referring to is the settings on the TV itself. Follow the steps that were provided and do it on your TV settings.
Keep me posted
Thanks,
Dan

Yeah that's what I was trying to do. I couldn't find an app called 'Remote device app'. My Android TV has been updated to the very latest version however the remote control Google Home app no longer works. 😟

Check out this article Use your phone as a virtual remote control. It consists of the requirements needed and the steps in paring virtual remote and more. Don't forget to update everything to make sure everything will run smoothly.
Tell me how it goes.

Thanks @Dan_A but I know how to access the feature. The problem is it doesn’t work. This is a screenshot of the error:
As I said previously, the TV is up to date. And the feature did work previously.

I'm glad that some people seem to have resolved the issue.
What's confusing about this issue is that it's not just the apps on your phone and the system version on your Chrome TV that need to be "up to date".
In my case, I also had to update various apps installed on my Chrome TV.
Settings → Apps → Google play store → Manage apps and games (in the user icon)
Even more confusing was that I had 9 apps out of date, even though I had auto-updates enabled.
I hope those who end up here will be able to solve the problem.
Sorry if my English is weird, I use "Google" translation.

The best solution for this problem is to go to Google play store under your name on this device and Uninstall the android TV remote service and then update it this will cause a electronic unpairing of the remote control and then repair it with Google home and voila it works great again
